Background History

Travis Baecham, the screen writer for "Pacific Rim", was thinking about a giant robot and a giant monster fighting. He kept imagining the battle. Later, he asked himself what would happen if the robot had 2 pilots, one for the left and one for the right sides and one of the pilots died? Baecham then decided to write the film. Finally, on May 28,2010, Legendary Pictures bought Beacham's 25 page film treatment, named "Pacific Rim".
The director and producer of "Pacific Rim", Guillermo del Toro, found a deal with Legendary Pictures. He stated he would produce and co-write the film. On a Monday, del Toro signed into directing the movie, "Pacific Rim". For a year, del Toro and Baecham worked together on the screenplay and Baecham was also known at the co-writer of the movie. The basis of Baecham's ideas were things he always wished to see in the genre.
